how Christian: it really is all about the bling$$$ with you types to the end, isn't it?
yeh, you like that... how about a big blingin' crusted cross that weighs about a pound...then will i be "G" enuff for the lay-diezzz???
lol
hubby and i stopped in at wal-mart tonight.
ran into a jw.
this was an older guy.
well i know just what that whole shunning thing is all about... unfortunately, i wish i could hound them in a friendly manner as so wonderfully described, but what can i do, i live far away from them, don't know where they are etc.
how do you now understand the world... and your place in it?.
i personally believe in evolution... and also a "higher power"... it seems more and more people are drifting away from organized religion, but they are then left searching for meaning and purpose..... going to college/university and studying a normal curriculum, one is exposed to philosophy, the socrates and platos of history, who in many ways started widespread discussion on such topics as above.
some sort of philosophy has to be studied i believe, just so one can understand the history of man, from that point in time and how we came to christianity in the first place.. however, it is a very personal matter, as we must all find our own answers.. i believe it is natural for people to be drawn to ponderings of purpose and god, and there are many ways to seek connection to that souce.
ravyn, i don't quite agree with the statement that rick ross is critical about everything under the heading of religion...for example, if you search the database, it is for better or worse simply a pile of information, the files there read either good or bad on a particular sect, and some sects don't get negative or critical info at all, i.e. look at the Wicca/Paganism file in there and the only really negative file in there doesn't actually refer to any real Pagan or Witch...
...however, court cases that make the news are frequently what ends up in there, and not all of it is negative.

Deepak Chopra is not related to Tupac Shakur ( ;] ) however he is an affluent new age kind of doctor feel-good who lives in San Diego and has actually been indicted for blackmail and harassment... more info at rickross.com
happy birthday smack! {:I>
la toya:
king: and says that he had many special young male friends -- the "vanity fair" article deals with other things too.
and you were raised as jehovah's witnesses?
re: "prince" ---*sigh* another once-good musician slips into confusion... 'tis disappointing, and i've read that story here about how "prince" gave the bs rundown treatment on a number of fans who paid big money for the bad treatment...highly offensive, you could say he officially fell off right then (for those who haven't already thought he fell off years ago)...his lyrics are full of contentious bs now, how disappointing is that
since leaving the jw's, with what have you replaced your belief system?
meaning, since we know there is no armageddon, heaven, hell, etc... how do you now understand the world and your place in it?.
i personally believe in evolution, but that doesn't help with the matter of spirituality.
i apologize in advance for not being a jw at any point in my life, only merely having associated problems.
-what you outlined in your post indicates to me that you have a much more correct view of spirituality... definitely keep exploring those realms of thought, word and action, the reality of deity is something that is inherent in human beings, and true spiritual practices are designed to systematically refine ordinary human beings into the deity and/or awaken spiritual qualities of the deity such as compassion...
...keep exploring, treasures are hidden within us and waiting for those willing to dig deep! -Know Thyself

...all i can say about Deepak Chopra is be very careful who you give your money to.
...i'm a Buddhist and a Witch, in both cases they are spiritual practices which i believe in and simply get real results from, not only that it is ok to practice both of these practices without conflicts and i have definitely made sure my teachers, traditions and lineages were authentic, and trustworthy...there's no skimping on the proof of trust when seriously seeking spiritual practices that work... and every seeker definitely deserves that trust and respect.

for anyone interested in astrology, Mars, together with Uranus will closely oppose the new Moon, Sun, Venus, and Jupiter, which just enters Virgo a mere four hours before, right on the new Moon... only hours away from Mars' perihelion and exactly square the recent eclipse degree!
...every astrologer is looking forward to this intense event, and is waiting to see the effects of it... it is the most dramatic astrological moment of the year, maybe the decade..
...and yes, isn't Mars beautiful? -looks like a ball of flame!
but tolerate everything that is harmless to tothers.. thats my religion.. whats yours?.
its took me a lifetime to learn tolerance and to be comfortable with it.
*smacks side of head*.
that sounds a lot like the Wiccan Rede:
Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An' it harm none, Do what Ye Will.
